Birchwood Leather recently donated £50 to The Woodland Trust. This was a combination of a percentage of online sales and then topped up to a set amount. A huge thank you to everybody who purchased from our website, between November 2020 and April 2021, who contributed to this total.
The Woodland Trust is the largest woodland conservation charity in the United Kingdom concerned with the creation, protection, and restoration of native woodland heritage. It has planted over 50 million trees since 1972. This donation will :
- Help to plant woods and trees to combat climate change, build a greener future for the UK and create havens for wildlife
- Save woods and trees from decimation, and combat tree pests and disease
- Restore damaged ancient woods
- Care for over 1000 woods, keeping them open for the public to explore and enjoy for generations to come
We are fortunate to live in an area where The Woodland Trust own and manage an area of woodland. The area, which also includes meadows, ponds and marshland, offers expansive views towards the Pennine Hills and Manchester. The local Friends of Gorse Covert Mounds in Warrington also volunteer their services in maintaining the area with organised litter picks.
1% of online sales, between May and October 2021, will also be rounded up to the nearest £50 and donated to The Woodland Trust.
